Nangang Gold element helped build the country’s first electric propulsion composite stainless steel chemical tanker

Recently, the country’s first electric propulsion composite stainless steel chemical ship was successfully launched. As the leading formulating unit of the national standard “Stainless Steel Composite plate for Shipbuilding and ocean engineering (GB/ T433109-2023)”, Anhui Gold Element Composite Materials Co., LTD. (hereinafter referred to as Gold Element) provided stainless steel composite plates for the ship.

The stainless steel composite plate produced by hot-rolled composite molding technology is mainly used to manufacture the cabin body. The cladding layer is duplex stainless steel 2205, and the base layer is high strength ship plate. This batch of composite plate has a large proportion of layers, high straightening difficulty, and strict requirements on surface quality. Gold element and Nangang New Materials Research Institute, Jiangsu University of Science and Technology and other units fully exchange discussions, designed a solution to satisfy customers. The successful completion of this project not only promotes industrial integration and innovation, but also provides a boost for the high-quality development of the shipbuilding industry and the green development of Marine engineering.

In foreign countries, stainless steel composite plates have been widely used in the field of shipbuilding and Marine engineering, especially in Japan, chemical ships are basically made of stainless steel composite plates, and its technology is very mature. The domestic research and development and application of this variety is still in its infancy, and most chemical ships are still made of pure stainless steel. As a pioneer, Nangang began to develop Marine stainless steel composite panels in 2015, and obtained the certification of 6 classification societies in 2018, and obtained the supply qualification of Marine composite panels. In addition, the “GB/ T433109-2023 Stainless Steel Composite plate for Marine and Ocean Engineering” led by NANGang has been approved and released, and will be officially launched on April 1, 2024.
