Establish a green low-cost clean steel production platform

The traditional process controls the purity of steel by refining outside the furnace, and the new clean steel production process based on the “three strips” of hot metal can reduce production costs through the following ways:

First, improve reaction efficiency. The process can reduce the amount of slag, reduce the consumption of auxiliary materials, iron and steel and iron alloy, and reduce the production cost by increasing the proportion of phosphorus and sulfur between slag and steel, inhibiting the peroxidation of steel slag, reducing deoxidized inclusions and improving the recovery rate of manganese resources.

The second is to implement efficient and fast-paced production. The process can reduce the production energy consumption by speeding up the production rhythm, improving the equipment operation rate, reducing the auxiliary time energy consumption and the temperature drop in the turnover process of molten iron and molten steel. By reducing the number of equipment to simplify spare parts management, improve the labor productivity of all staff, and further reduce production costs.

The third is to simplify the refining process outside the furnace. LF refining is widely used in domestic steel mills. The LF process has high energy consumption and long cycle, and the slag steel reaction is easy to produce large particle inclusions. Foreign advanced steel mills have begun to restrain the reaction of LF slag steel and even cancel the LF refining furnace.

The fourth is to subvert traditional processes. High-quality special steel must be produced by special metallurgical and forging processes such as electroslag (ESR) or vacuum induction + vacuum self-consumption (VAR), which is small in scale and high in cost. This situation has begun to change, such as SKF company through ultra-low sulfur smelting and sulfide control, the transverse and longitudinal performance deviation of rolled wood reduced from 50% to less than 10%, to achieve the production of wind power shaft and other products with rolling instead of forging. By improving the inclusion control process, Japan Sanyo Special Steel Company completely eliminates large inclusions above 20μm, so that the fatigue life of bearing steel is ≥108, and the quality of aviation bearings produced has exceeded that of products produced by ESR or VAR process.
